About Us

"Over the years we have expanded our services to reflect the needs of the wider BAME communities of Liverpool."

MORE ABOUT US

Merseyside Somali And Community Association (MSCA) was established in 1979 by Somali seamen to address their needs in employment, social housing, and health. The organisation has grown to become one the largest Somali community organisations in the North West.

Over the years we have expanded our services to reflect the needs of the wider BAME communities of Liverpool and we are often the first point of support for new refugees arriving in the city. In addition to English and Somali speakers we can support Arabic and Tigrinya speakers.

Promoting Accessibility and Participation

We are committed to ensuring that all members of the Somali and wider BAMER communities in Merseyside have access to essential services, opportunities, and support. By breaking down barriers to participation, we empower individuals to engage in education, employment, and social activities, fostering a more connected and active community.

Promoting Equality of Opportunity and Inclusive Communities

We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of background, has the same opportunities to thrive. Through advocacy, support programmes, and community engagement, we work to address inequalities and promote a fairer society in which all individuals can contribute and succeed.

Valuing Cultural Diversity

Cultural heritage is at the heart of our community, and we celebrate the rich diversity within Merseyside. By promoting cultural exchange, education, and awareness, we help foster mutual understanding and respect, ensuring that different traditions and identities are embraced and valued.

Reducing Disadvantage and Exclusion

We recognise the challenges faced by many in our community and are dedicated to tackling social and economic inequalities. Through targeted initiatives such as employment support, housing assistance, and health services, we aim to reduce hardship and ensure that no one is left behind.
